Parcels at a Royal Mail sorting office were delayed for delivery due to a construction project at a site in Lancashire.
The delivery company's office in Chorley faced a backlog of items in the run-up to Christmas after the completion of the improvement scheme was delayed an extra week, the Chorley Guardian reports.
A spokesperson for Royal Mail commented that an increase in the number of staff at the site would help to get things moving smoothly and that long queues would not be an issue.
The Chorley sorting office experienced similar problems last year when residents were left queuing for their parcels just days before the festive holidays.
People have been taking to social networking site Twitter to share their concern at the issue.
One local resident wrote: "Chorley sorting office takes customer dis-service to a whole new level of madness."
This news comes just days after a woman in Dundee received the wrong parcels and cards to her home when they should have been delivered to a mailbox streets away.
