A Royal Mail depot in Dundee East is so backlogged due to the adverse weather conditions that the amount of parcels not to have reached their destinations could reach into six figures.
According to the local Courier newspaper, the problems began in November with a new parcel delivery system, but were compounded when wintry conditions appeared.
The situation has become so bad that Consumer Focus Scotland highlighted the facility in particular as needing to regain the confidence of the general public.
A spokesperson for the organisation stated: "The problems that consumers in Dundee East have been facing appear to be on a different scale, with people reporting disrupted deliveries long before the snow set in."
The Courier noted that parcel delivery services were so poor in the area that it was "inundated" with complaints throughout the festive period.
Delayed post has been an issue throughout the UK, with the Southport Visiter recently reporting Royal Mail offices in Kew as facing a "huge backlog" of parcels due to the weather.
