Christmas Day saw a large number of people order more parcels for UK delivery service after opening their presents, according to data released by industry analyst Experian Hitwise.
It revealed that 62.8 million UK residents visited retail websites on December 25th, meaning that one in every eight trips online resulted in consumers visiting retail websites – a record figure for Britain.
This data also shows a 38 per cent increase in the number of people shopping online from Christmas Eve and a 1.2 per cent increase in retail visits year-on-year.
"Although the figures are not as high as they were for Cyber Monday, December 25th is certainly emerging as an important shopping day in its own right," said research analyst James Murray.
IMRG forecast earlier in the month that online shopping would continue throughout Christmas Day and the rest of the festive season, predicting a spend of £367.8 million on Boxing Day.
