The growth of online clothes shopping is set to continue unabated in the new year, according to one ecommerce expert.
Tina Spooner, director of information at the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG), said the sector has grown by more than 2,000 per cent since 2001.
She added that there are "no signs of that growth slowing" in 2011, which could be good news for parcel delivery services.
"With the UK fashion industry worth around £20 billion to the UK economy, it is no surprise that this is one of the strongest retail sectors online," Ms Spooner said.
According to figures from Kelkoo, British consumers are expected to spend £22.5 billion in next year's January sales, up 1.6 per cent on the figure for 2010.
The average consumer is expected to spend £370, with 17 per cent of their budget being allocated to online purchases.
