Digital brands trading over online auction house eBay may be pleased to hear that use of the eBay mobile app for the iPhone is climbing, with the number of transactions conducted through this three times more than last year's total.

According to iPhone-scoop, nearly six million people have downloaded this application, with users from almost 165 countries visiting the company's mobile website.

Furthermore, the news source noted that on a daily basis, there are approximately 750 consumers visiting eBay via their handsets, with 1.5 million products being bought this holiday period.

"This year saw buyers and sellers in eBay [generate] even more transactions that are worth half a billion dollars by simply using their mobile applications," the publication observed.

These results come after eDigitalResearch's Chris Russell pointed out that online shopping will be further supported by the growing prevalence of mobile devices and apps, which will give the public greater control.
