Consumers appear to be increasingly satisfied with their online shopping experiences, with a new report revealing that gains are being seen by bigger industry players such as Amazon.

According to ForeSee Results' E-Retail Satisfaction Index, a climb of seven per cent has been registered, reaching a record high of 79 on the 100-point scale, with Amazon scoring 87, MultiChannel Merchant reports.

However, Larry Freed, chief executive of the company - which was established in 2001 - observed that smaller businesses may not have experienced similar findings to firms such as Gap, which grew to 76 and Macys, which went up to 79.

"These are the biggest retailers on the web," he said, adding that they have "the ability to invest in the web channel".

It was also found that people who are highly satisfied with their web experiences are 65 per cent more likely to complete online transactions and 44 per cent more inclined to shop on the high street.
