Royal Mail's lateness in delivering parcels and letters to an Essex resident's home has caused her to miss the start of her radiotherapy.
Barbara Kelly from Benfleet was due to start her treatment in mid-December but will now wait until next month after post was late to be delivered, reports the Echo.
When the mail intended for the street eventually arrived, four letters from the Southend Hospital were found dating back to December 12th.
Ms Kelly's daughter, Mary Rainforth, said she had been in touch with the sorting office but received no explanation for the delay.
A Royal Mail spokesman explained that the issue had been caused by a problem with accessing the sheltered Gowan Court compound, which is locked by a keypad, but claimed it had now been resolved.
The delivery company has faced a number of delays over the festive period, including a backlog of items in Chorley post office caused by construction work on the site, as noted by the Chorley Guardian.
